• Participants will learn about Ohio’s law for educating children with disabilities through reading, reviewing and guided discussions about the Ohio Operating Standards for Ohio Educational Agencies Serving Children with Disabilities ("The Operating Standards"). The Operating Standards are rules and policies that all public schools in the state of Ohio must follow and implement. These rules are applicable to children with all disabilities. However, our online discussions will be tailored to discuss the rules and how they apply to students with a hearing loss.

By participating in this course participants will:

    1. Improve their knowledge and understanding of the Operating Standards

    2. Understand how the Operating Standards apply to IEP’s of children with hearing loss

    3. Increase their knowledge of the IEP process

    4. Become a better advocate for their child’s special education
